Cannabis operators turn to Ganjier program to educate employees

Before he pivoted to the marijuana industry, Chris Fesperman worked for a craft brewery where new hires were expected to complete Cicerone Beer Server certification within their first 90 days.

Now director of product and education at California-based Kiva Sales & Service, the distributor of Kiva Confections and dozens of other marijuana brands, Fesperman is making it possible for more than two dozen Kiva staff members to complete the Ganjier Product Specialist program.

“It creates a culture within the (organization) so everyone has a base level of education, and they're all speaking the same language,” Fesperman told MJBizDaily.

Now, cannabis industry stakeholders can take the Ganjier Product Specialist course – or send their employees – in conjunction with MJBizCon, the world’s largest cannabis business trade show, Dec. 3-6 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Read story >

Now there’s evidence some marijuana samples submitted for testing contain a mysterious “soup” of dozens of unknown compounds never before found in cannabis.

Lab executives told MJBizDaily they believe the compounds are created when hemp-derived cannabinoids are converted to delta-8 and delta-9 THC.

Labs do not test for these byproducts.

Rather, most states require labs to test for various levels of heavy metals, mold and cannabinoids. Read story >

Curaleaf Holdings was done with hemp, having “ceased all of its operations in Kentucky related to the manufacturing and wholesale distribution of hemp-derived products wholesale” in September 2023.

Then, it seems, the New York-based marijuana multistate operator had second thoughts.

Instead of exiting hemp, Curaleaf would go all in, joining a growing trend among licensed cannabis companies. Read story >
